Books and thoughts on and around them. And some other things. By a Marxist-Leninist-Troskyist Mom.

TRy Mosley's 47, a young adult novel that is from the point of view of a slave living the most horrific existence on a Southern plantation. The sf elements are nicely done, but strained at times. Mosley has a deeply felt, bitter understanding of how American slavery worked.
It's good to see another Trotskyist with a blog.
Thanks- I have that book but have not read it yet. Mosley is perhaps my favourite living American writer. I know politically he is still sort of seeking, but I think (hope) he is going to end up a socialist, and I think that once he weeds through identity issues, he will find his home in Trotskyism. Well, I think/hope, anyway.
His mind is so wonderfully sharp, and amazing linguistic ability is something which is pretty much unmatched at present. He can paint pictures with his words in whatever genre, fiction or non-. Yes, I am a fan.
